brown's crab shack

since i'm just getting started blogging, i wanted to do some flashbacks to capture life with lynlee pre-blog. here is the party we had for our son's FIRST birthday last summer. brown's crab shack with a patriotic flair!

the invite. through lynlee & co paperie of course :)

seating for the little guests. cute napkins from target's summer stuff fit the laid back theme perfectly!

we love some styrofoam cups at our house. through me @ lynlee & co

thus far, i've made all the cakes for the kids' parties. they are definitely not the prettiest creations but i can't give up just yet. this one did get a little help from a crab cookie (NOT made by me)!

party favor "crab food" (a.k.a. baby goldfish)
party circle tags through the tomkat studio

my favorite picture. strange, i know. maybe it's the cool B i bought at hobby lobby and gave a vintage feel with some old, old, old leftover paint from college. (i also now have an A for big sister. i hope to use the letters in some way at every party!) or maybe it's that ashley let me borrow her fancy camera (which i proceeded to buy one just like because the pictures were soooo much better than my dinky camera).

big sister and daddy hanging the flag on the fence. holding hands. so sweet.

will do these sandwich wraps again one day. i loved them.

even the milk jug needed a little party flair.

we are coming up on a 2nd birthday really soon ... stay tuned!

good bones

i was showing my mom some house pictures this week and she commented that they were all so great because of the "good bones" of the house. for me, that nails why i am so drawn to the structure of a home. i literally dream about floor plans at night and am always studying the layouts of places i visit. i am drawn to a beautifully decorated room as much as anyone. definitely! but my passion lies in the architecture and sense of peace you feel when you walk in a room.

this home from a past issue of veranda magazine perfectly fits the bill.
